My Happiness Project Day 4: The First Time I Heard Coltrane

The beauty of this project is that I find that I'm always looking for something to be happy about. There were many things to be happy about today. Paint Club took up much of my time, but I can't list anything specific that made me happy there, because what happens at Paint Club stays at Paint Club. :)

So tonight my happy comes via The Nightside with Andy O' on KUVO
This is "The First Time I Heard Coltrane" by Tribaljazz featuring Alfre Woodard. (Which reminds me that I have a Coltrane painting sitting in my back room just waiting to be finished...)

Enjoy!

So What - Miles Davis & John Coltrane

And now for some substance after the fluffy sweetness of the last video I posted. I'm a day late (go figure), but in honor of Miles Davis's birthday, here is Miles and Coltrane with So What. Turn your speakers up and enjoy!

(And by the way, Coltrane is my next jazz portrait. Stay tuned for that!)

Jill Scott & George Benson: Summertime

I absolutely LOVE this version of the jazz standard Summertime. This song has been recorded by everyone from Billie Holiday to Willie Nelson, but I've never heard it done quite like this. Jill Scott and George Benson really swing it, and my girl Jill even scats!
